This is my first video in a series loosely introducing Finnish medieval churches and their Catholic sacral art. There are 104 medieval churches or church ruins left in Finland. The oldest buildings were built on Åland islands, dating back to 1200s. However, the majority of the churches was built in Finland-Proper, South-Western part of the country. In addition to domestic craftsmanship, a lot of beautiful artwork was imported and commissioned from the master carpenters of Hanseatic Central and Western Europe. The song is 'Salva Nos' by Medieval Baebes.
