Every year the Global Marijuana March takes place in over 200 cities around the world. It is organized by volunteer groups in different countries. WorldTV is co-producing a live webcast from the largest of the GMM events which takes place in Toronto, Canada. You can participate!

The live event broadcast will take place at worldtv.com/live on Saturday May 2nd. The hours of the broadcast will be ‘afternoon time’ Eastern Standard Time but may start earlier or end later depending on the timezones of people who participate.

We are inviting people to contribute video from the GMM event in their country so we can incorporate your video into the live broadcast. This is a very exciting and experimental project and we will be using some new WorldTV technology for the first time, technology that will be available to all WorldTV channel owners in the near future.

You can participate in 4 ways…

  1. Send video by e-mail to
  2. Broadcast live video from your mobile phone using Qik (learn more at the Qik website)
  3. Broadcast live video from your computer using Ustream (learn more at Ustream.tv)
  4. Send Tweets using the hashtag #gmmlive

Specific instructions follow…

Send video by e-mail

Many phones let you send video by e-mail or as MMS. We’ve set up a special e-mail address that will accept video in all popular formats which will go straight to the producers on the day. Send it from your phone or upload it from a laptop. Just be sure to tell us your name and the location of the video in the subject of the e-mail.

E.G. Subject: From Leila in Oslo

That’s it! The producers will monitor the e-mail address on the day for use within the broadcast.

Broadcast live video from your mobile phone

If you would like to broadcast live video from your phone using Qik you have two choices:

  • Contact us before Saturday by e-mail at (preferred). Tell us the event you are attending, your Qik username and anything else you would like us to know. We’ll work with you to include your Qik videos in the live broadcast.
  • Send video on the day using Qik and include the phrase gmmlive in the title or description of your video. We will discover your first video via Qik and may use subsequent videos of yours live.

If you contact us beforehand there is a much greater chance we can co-ordinate with you to use your video live.

Broadcast live video from your computer

If you would like to broadcast live video from your computer using Ustream contact us before Saturday by e-mail at . We’ll work with you to include your Ustream video into the live broadcast.

Send Tweets using the hashtag #gmmlive

If you’re on Twitter, you can send updates from the event in your country using the hashtag #gmmlive. We plan to feature Tweets within the live broadcast.
